Meet the Founder

Josh Aviner

CHIEF BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIST

Josh brings a unique blend of expertise in producing live events and applying behavioral science to drive results. Before founding Audience Alchemy, Josh was an award-nominated producer whose work focused on predominantly non-verbal genres, including theatrical dance shows, contemporary circus, immersive experiences, and variety arts. He has successfully sold over $3.5 million in tickets to his own productions, which include Beyond Babel (a New York Times Critic’s Pick) and the beloved touring circus Stars Above. His work has been showcased Off-Broadway, at regional performing arts centers, pop-up venues, nightclubs, international arts festivals, and outdoor spaces.

Josh’s journey into behavioral science began when he faced persistent declining ticket sales for one of his productions in the aftermath of the pandemic. Despite engaging various marketing companies and consultants, the traditional strategies failed to reverse the trend. Searching for new solutions, Josh discovered behavioral science and quickly developed a deep passion for its application. His early experiments with behavioral principles led to measurable improvements in ticket sales, revealing the field’s untapped potential within the performing arts industry.

Recognizing this critical need, Josh launched Audience Alchemy in 2025 to help event producers and performing arts organizations harness behavioral science strategies to complement their marketing and development efforts. Josh consults with a wide range of clients, including circuses, theater companies, and arts organizations, as well as financial institutions investing in the ticketed entertainment space. His work combines a deep understanding of the performing arts industry with the strategic application of behavioral science to create measurable, lasting impact.

Josh holds a Masters in Theatre Producing and Management from Columbia University and a Bachelors from New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

He has earned certifications in Behavioral Design from Irrational Labs, Behavioral Economics from Ogilvy Consulting, and Behavioral Science from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
